NSW EPA provides extensive information and links to guidance and resources relating to contaminated land on its website.

Specific information about Underground Petroleum Storage Systems (UPSS) is provided here, with an online training course available at no cost (search for UPSS Capacity Building Online Training Modules).

NSW Planning provides information and links for planning authorities roles, including contaminated land on its website.

The Australasian Land and Groundwater Association focusses on contaminated land with forums, training, conferences, and special interest groups in various topics (one of them being local government). More information is available on its website.

The University of Technology (UTS) Sydney runs in depth training coursed in contaminated land for stakeholders ranging from consultants to developers and regulators. More information is available on its website.

Local Government NSW runs an asbestos program and network. More information.

A wide range of resources and tools were developed through the EPA-funded Council Regional Capacity Building Program (CRCB program). The resources are available at no cost on their websites:

Hunter Joint Organisation’s Contaminated Land Resources: Hunter JO has prepared a range of resources and tools for Council’s contaminated land management. The resources are divided under Councils’ various roles; as a planning authority, land owner and manager, and regulator for underground petroleum storage systems (UPSS).

The Central West Councils Environment and Waterways Alliance (CWCEWA) in conjunction with Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo councils provide a policy template and tools to support councils’ and their communities’ contaminated land management.

Riverina and Murray Joint Organisation, Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils, Far North West Joint Organisation, and Dubbo Regional Council included their resources, training and information prepared under the CRCB Program on the Riverina and Murray Joint Organisation website.
