Workplace Health and Safety

Commencing on 1 January 2012, the new Work, Health and Safety legislation placed proactive obligations on councils to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their employees at work.

The Industrial Relations Unit helps councils to comply with their workplace health and safety obligations by:

  • Providing advice
  • Developing resources and training
  • Representing councils' views on workplace health and safety to peak industry bodies such as SafeWork NSW and Safe Work Australia.
