Best Practice Asbestos Management for Councils

This forum will offer participants the opportunity to explore the role that councils play in the safe management and regulation of asbestos within their Local Government Areas. Councils from the Central NSW region are invited to attend along with representatives from the EPA, SafeWork, Office of Emergency Management, Office of Local Government and LGNSW to discuss the following topics:

  • Case Studies on management of asbestos by councils
  • Emergency management
  • Land contamination, waste management and  illegal dumping
  • Management of asbestos risks within council workplaces
  • The Model Asbestos Policy for NSW Councils
  • The NSW Ombudsman’s Report 2017 into how government agencies deal with the asbestos problem
