With several new local government areas declared natural disasters zones this week, there can be no doubt councils continue to play a key role as a trusted partner with state and commonwealth governments, on behalf of our communities.
This week we achieved the following key wins for local governments:
- supporting councils such as Newcastle to be declared Natural Disaster Zones, and
- successfully advocating for the the Mixed Waste Organic Outputs (MWOO) waste levy exemption extension, which was welcome news.
Please help us by contributing to our advocacy, including:
- develop creative ways local governments can inspire wellbeing and economic development,
- give voice to councils and their communities at bushfire inquiries, and
- help shape building reforms by lodging an expression of interest for our LGNSW Building Reform Interest Group.
