Disaster Ready Fund – applications now open

Applications are now open for Round 1 of the Australian Government’s Disaster Ready Fund (DRF), which will provide up to $200 million annually for disaster mitigation and resilience funding to states, territories and local governments.

The DRF will fund high priority projects to help curb the devastating impacts of natural hazards by investing in important disaster prevention projects.

Projects can include direct investment in infrastructure, for example flood levees, floodways, seawalls, firebreaks, constructed wetlands and reefs. Projects that target systemic risk reduction to improve the impact of the response to future disasters are also eligible.

Councils are invited to submit project proposals to the NSW Government by 5pm on 14 February 2023, and the NSW Reconstruction Authority will determine which project should be submitted to the Australian Government for further consideration.

The NSW Reconstruction Authority will also hold an online information session for councils on 24 January from 3.30pm to 5pm.
