Draft Mining and Petroleum Legislation on Exhibition

The NSW Government is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to mining and petroleum legislation.

A draft of the Mining and Petroleum Legislation Amendment Bill 2021 is on public exhibition on the Mining, Exploration and Geoscience website, along with an Explanatory Guide.

Among other things, the proposed legislative amendments will provide a legislative basis for the new Royalties for Rejuvenation Fund. The draft legislation outlines the purpose of the Fund, payment arrangements and reporting requirements. It also proposes to enable the Minister to establish expert panels, to help ensure that coal mining communities guide investments supported by this Fund.

Submissions on the draft Bill close 21 January 2022.
