Funding for community-based arts and cultural organisations

RISE funding from the federal government is now open to local governments following LGNSW, ALGA and sector advocacy.

Additionally, organisations legislated under Section 355 of the Local Government Act can now apply to the NSW Government’s Rescue and Restart Package.

RISE Funding
The Australian Government’s RISE Fund assists organisations in the presentation of cultural and creative projects, activities and events, particularly those disrupted due to COVID-19.

The grant opportunity started on 31 August 2020 and will close to applications on 31 December 2021, subject to allocation of funds. After initially not being eligible to apply, local government has recently been granted eligibility.

Councils wanting to apply can do so through Grant Connect.

Rescue and Restart
The eligibility conditions for Create NSW’s Rescue and Restart were initially restricted to independent organisations, which unintentionally excluded groups and organisations legislated under Section 355 of the Local Government Act.

This restriction has now been removed and Create NSW welcomes applications from these community groups.

The grant will close on 30 June 2021 or when funding is fully committed.

Organisations wishing to apply can email [email protected].
