Registration – as a voting delegate

To vote on motions at the Conference, delegates must be an elected member of a council, county council, the Norfolk Island Regional Council (NIRC) a Related Local Government Body (RLGB) or an Administrator appointed in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.

Ordinary members and Associate members need to advise LGNSW of the name(s) of their nominated voting delegate(s) for voting on motions via an online form.

Members are required to advise LGNSW of the names of their nominated voting delegates by noon (AEDT) on Tuesday 3 November 2020. Nominations received after this time/date cannot be accepted, however, a member may, subject to the LGNSW rules, notify LGNSW of a change to the name of an already nominated voting delegate (a substitute delegate) after this time/date (see below).

Voting entitlements
The formula for calculating members’ voting entitlements is prescribed at rule 23 of the LGNSW (Federal) rules.

View this document to see the number of voting delegates each member is entitled to send to the conference to vote on motions.

In accordance with the LGNSW rules, only members that were financial on 1 March 2020 (the "calculation date") have been allocated voting entitlements. To exercise voting rights, members also need to be financial on 12 midnight (AEST) on Sunday 27 September 2020 (the date on which the roll of voters closes).

Substitute nominated voting delegate/s
Subject to the LGNSW rules, a member may notify LGNSW of a change to the name of an already nominated voting delegate.

Ordinary members and Associate members need to advise LGNSW of changes to the name(s) of their nominated voting delegate(s) for voting on motions.
