Mayor Councillor Carmelo Pesce is serving his third consecutive term on Sutherland Shire Council, having first been elected to council in 2012.

Cr Pesce previously served as Mayor from 2015-2020 and as Deputy Mayor before this from 2014-2015.

A lifelong resident of Sutherland Shire, Cr Pesce is also a long-standing successful local business owner.

He is committed to promoting further improvements to local open spaces, parks and playgrounds to create destinations that highlight Sutherland Shire’s beautiful environment and foster a more connected community where residents continue to embrace active lifestyles.

A strong advocate for the delivery of new and improved infrastructure, Cr Pesce is keenly focussed on enhancing core council services such as roads, footpaths and waste collection, and ensure the council’s financial management is on a firm footing.

Cr Pesce is also eager to support local businesses to bounce back from the impacts of the Covid pandemic, and to provide more opportunities for residents to come together to celebrate the shire's vibrant community.
