Swansea tidal gate pilot project (1)

Produced by Lake Macquarie City Council with support from LGNSW, this project was designed to make the community aware of the Swansea tidal gate pilot project and the context of anticipated climate change impacts on the Lake Macquarie area.

Swansea tidal gate pilot project (2)

Swansea is showing off two new trial tidal gates, which have been installed to help reduce dry weather flooding and mitigate future flood risks. The gates are installed in stormwater pipes at Bowman Street and south of the Swansea McDonald’s car park.

Simtable modelling tool

This video highlights the unique features of the Simtable modelling tool purchased by Ku-ring-gai Council to improve public engagement and preparation for the threat of bushfires. It shows how it is being used as part of the council’s Climate Wise Communities program to build resilience to climate change.

Climate adaptation projects

This video features climate adaption projects delivered by Dubbo Regional Council, Parkes Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council, and funded through the former Building Resilience to Climate Change (BRCC) program.

Using recycled water

This video features the Namoi Regional Organisation of Councils, which is trialling the use of recycled water in the construction and maintenance of gravel roads, and Wagga Wagga City Council, which is trialling smart irrigation technology in sportsgrounds.

UV Smart Cool Playground

This video features Cumberland City Council, which transformed an existing playground into a UV Smart Cool Playground as a prototype for other playgrounds, and Goulburn Mulwarree Council, which is undertaking a range of adaptations to its showground to make it more comfortable for animals as well as people in times of extreme heat.

Cool refuges in extreme heat

This video features Bega Valley Shire Council, which has upgraded three rural community halls to provide cool refuges in times of extreme heat, and is helping the community to prepare for more hot days due a changing climate.

Tackling Mosquitoes Together

Tackling Mosquitoes Together, was produced for Tweed Shire Council to raise awareness of the increased risk of mosquito borne illnesses due to a changing climate.

Dawkins Park Reserve Windmill

This video, about the Dawkins Park Reserve Windmill in Macksville, showcases the windmill as a sustainable solution to lake water quality issues and a key feature of the interactive climate change learning space being developed by Nambucca Valley Council.

Disaster and Emergency Dashboard

This video, the Hawkesbury Disaster and Emergency Dashboard, highlights the benefits and features of the Hawkesbury City Council web-based dashboard. It provides the community with a real time single point of vital information during weather related emergencies, including floods and bushfires.
