Local government is democratically elected to shape, serve and support local communities. As such, local government must be constitutionally recognised and respected as an equal sphere of government.

Local Government NSW represents the interests of member councils on a wide range of issues relating to governance policy, and is committed to the principles of good governance.

We advocate for genuine consultation with local government on any proposed changes to policy that may affect a council’s ability to govern and/or deliver services to their community.
