EOIs sought – NSW Local Government Boundaries Commission
LGNSW has been invited to seek expressions of interest by 5pm on Wednesday 3 December 2025 from councillors for appointment to the Local Government Boundaries Commission.
Role of the Boundaries Commission
The Local Government Boundaries Commission is an independent statutory authority that examines and reports on any matter referred to it by the Minister in relation to the boundaries of local government areas. The Boundaries Commission is constituted under section 260 of the Local Government Act.
Members of the Boundaries Commission
Four commissioners are appointed to the Boundaries Commission. Of the four commissioners:
- one (the Chair) is nominated by the Minister for Local Government
- two are appointed from a panel comprising members nominated by LGNSW, and
- one is an officer of the Office of Local Government nominated by the agency’s Deputy Secretary.
LGNSW is required to submit a panel of eight nominees with the Minister to select two representatives from the panel. The panel is maintained to provide for future vacancies.
Term
Commissioners are generally appointed for a term of five years.

As required.
Remuneration
A commissioner or acting commissioner is entitled to be paid such remuneration (including travelling and subsistence allowances) as the Minister may from time to time determine in respect of the commissioner.
Currently, the remuneration is $25,000 per year.
