Electric Vehicle Fire Risk for NSW Councils

EV FireSafe and NSW Government will host an online information session on Tuesday 20 August at 11am to share information about electric vehicle fire safety.

Electric vehicle charging infrastructure supports decarbonised transport, but what are the hazards and risks for Councils installing charging in buildings and kerbside, and what can be done to minimise risk?

In this session, EV FireSafe will:

  • Present their global data and talk about the likelihood of an EV fire
  • Look at how many occur connected to EV charging ... and why
  • Talk about the issues emergency responders are facing with this new technology
  • Look at lithium-ion battery fire risk across a range of applications
  • Go through risk mitigation & sensible actions for safer people, charging and environment
  • EV FireSafe Director Emma Sutcliffe and Technical Specialist Dan Fish, who are also both operational firefighters, will present this session.

If you are interested in attending, please email [email protected] and an invitation will be sent by reply.

Get behind the wheel of an EV

In partnership with NRMA, NSW Government is making its way around the state bringing you all you need to know about EVs.

As well as seeing a wide range of vehicles, these events allow councils to talk to experts in the field, go for a test drive and learn about buying and charging an EV.

The EV drive days are free to attend and open to all.

Next stop: Port Macquarie.
Date: Thursday 1 and Friday 2 August 2024. Morning and afternoon sessions available.
Location: Port Macquarie Race Club.

To test drive an EV you’ll need to book ahead of time as places are limited.
