Have your say on proposed Business Improvement Districts

The NSW Government is inviting feedback on a proposed new policy to make it easier to set up Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in NSW.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is investigating policy options for streamlining BID establishment and operation as part of the NSW Government's ongoing efforts to support the revitalisation of business areas following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Within a BID, business, councils, State Government and the community all work together for a common goal of improving our local spaces. BIDs are being looked at as a way to enhance the local trading environment, encourage economic growth and foster community collaboration.

Transport for NSW has developed a white paper that outlines some of the policy options being investigated to support BIDs in NSW. The paper also includes international case studies showing how BIDs have contributed to place revitalisation in communities around the world.

Transport for NSW is now seeking feedback from stakeholders on BIDs policy.

Councils are encouraged to complete this survey to help inform the government’s approach to BIDs policy, including future engagement, collaboration and co-design activities.

Contact the Transport for NSW team working on this policy or visit the TfNSW website.
