LGP Establishes LG Training Academy

Local Government Procurement’s sustained strategic initiatives to strengthen training delivery capabilities over the past couple of years have paid rich dividends.

LGP recently acquired the Australian Academy of Transformative Education (AATE - RTO Code 45450) to become its new owner.

LGP has long recognised that vocational education and training (VET) courses are crucial to strengthen the capabilities of the sector and started offering procurement qualifications several years ago. Until now, these courses were run in partnership with external service providers. All along, we learnt the intricacies and nuances of VET, built internal competencies, and got ready to area to boost sector self-reliance.

In March this year, LGP bought AATE, which will now operate under the trading name of LG Training Academy (LGTA). 

Courses on offer through LG Training Academy (LGTA): FY21-22
The following qualifications will be on offer through LGTA. Intake dates, along with other details, will be updated on the LGP website soon.

1. Diploma of Project Management
2. Diploma of Leadership and Management
3. Diploma of Business

To help meet other training needs of the sector, as a part of our expansion plan, we will add more courses in coming years.

How will the courses be delivered?
We will deliver these qualifications in the following two formats:

1. Public Courses: delivered in the LGP Office, with the option for regional participants to attend remotely via Zoom.
2. Council/Joint Organisation (JO) Specific Onsite Courses: for eight or more staff from a specific council or JO. Any of these courses can be delivered at councils’ premises, at more competitive rates.
