BINS4Blokes men’s health initiative

BINS4Blokes is a national campaign to encourage the installation of sanitary disposal bins in male public toilet facilities.

Incontinence is a widespread condition, with more than five million Australians experiencing bladder or bowel control problems.

For the many Australian boys and men who require incontinence products, there are limited places to dispose of them due to sanitary or regular bins often only being available in women’s or disability bathroom facilities. This can make men and boys more reluctant to leave their homes or engage in everyday activities.

Councils, business owners, shopping centres or sporting stadiums are among early adopters of the campaign.

Councils can get involved with this initiative through:

  • Investigating the installation of sanitary bins
  • Promoting the initiative through networks
  • Working with local stakeholders and shopping centres to promote the importance of providing sanitary products for male incontinence.

There are a range of useful resources, links and infographics on the BINS4Blokes dedicated webpage for councils.
