Local Government Remuneration Tribunal 

The Local Government Remuneration Tribunal has started its 2021 review of fees payable to mayors and councillors.

Pursuant to s. 241 of the Local Government Act 1993, the tribunal is required to make an annual determination by no later than 1 May each year on fees payable to mayors and councillors.

Every three years, the tribunal is also required to review the categorisation of councils. The categorisation of councils was last reviewed in the 2020 review.

The tribunal has noted that, as part of the 2021 review, it will consider any requests to review the categorisation of individual councils if there is a strong case to do so.

In preparation, members are asked to advise LGNSW if they will be making a submission to the tribunal and to share their submissions with LGNSW in advance.

Those members making a submission for the 2021 review should email Saishna Kishore, LGNSW Assistant Industrial Officer, or call 02 9242 4141 no later than Monday 8 March 2021.
