Expert panel on cladding

A high-rise building with cladding being installedA new 'Cladding Product Safety Panel' will advise the NSW Government, building owners, councils and other regulators on the suitability of cladding products and external wall assembly methods.

The eight-member panel chaired by Professor Mark Hoffman, will identify, and if necessary test, the safest ways to remove and replace high-risk cladding. It is made up of experts in building and construction, product testing, building surveying, certification and fire safety engineering.

Additionally, councils, building owners and consultants can refer to the Fire and Rescue NSW position statement on External Combustible Cladding which helps clarify their approach to advising on the risks presented by cladding on existing buildings, as well as the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) ‘Guide for the Assessment of Buildings with Combustible Cladding.  If you have any comments, please email Jane Partridge, Strategy Manager Planning and Transport.
