The late Cr Pat Dixon was the first Aboriginal woman elected to local government in Australia and worked tirelessly for the community she represented.
In recognition of her service and achievements in local government, a scholarship has been established for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander councillors and council staff members in NSW to undertake further study, professional development or research.
The scholarship is administered by LGNSW and recipients are determined by four trustees.
The 2021 Cr Pat Dixon Memorial Scholarship is now open
Applications for the 2021 scholarship are open from 10 February to 12 March (deadline extended).
Only Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander NSW local government councillors or employees are eligible to apply.
The scholarship provide assistance to the value of $5000 for one or more scholarship recipients in a calendar year.

How to apply
Applicants are required to upload confirmation of Aboriginality and a brief CV as part of the application process.
Applications should be submitted via LGNSW’s online application portal.
