Local Government Week is designed to showcase the work councils do in their communities, including the wide variety of services they provide.

Local Government Week in 2024 will run from Monday 29 July to Sunday 4 August and the Local Government Week Awards Dinner night will be held on 1 August at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney.

The week aims to help move the conversation beyond roads, rates and rubbish, to the important and far-reaching role councils play as the hubs of their community. As a sector we are responsible for pools, parks and playgrounds, libraries, local festivals and lighting, cemeteries, childcare centres, community infrastructure and much more.

How to use the LG Week digital toolkit

Your council can participate in the Local Government Week campaign in a variety of ways. We have developed a digital toolkit with customisable assets, key messaging and other tools that are easy to adapt and share across your key marketing channels.

You can use this toolkit to assist with showcasing special events, competitions, media, social media and digital newsletters.
