Assessment Criteria

Excellence in Communication Award

  1. Overall Communication Strategy: Short overview of the communication campaign strategy including objectives/targets, situational analysis, implementation and methods selected; show the clear targeting of issues and audiences in the planning process and the effective use of a variety of media appropriate to those audiences. (Maximum 200 words.)
  2. Strategy Development, messaging and innovation: Illustrate how a strategy was developed to meet the stated objectives. What aspects of the communication project were completed in a unique, creative and an innovative fashion? (Maximum 200 words.)
  3. Budget: Briefly outline your budget including how much it cost and whether it was a cost effective use of resources. This should include all expenses including production, printing, digital/media spend, distributions, evaluation costs and whether you used an agency to assist with the project. (Maximum 200 words.)
  4. Distribution methods: Show communication and distribution methods (through meetings and events, direct mail, letterbox drop, digital channels, via businesses, shops, cafes, libraries, council offices, newspaper ads, inserts, media releases). (Maximum 200 words.)
  5. Describe the campaign results in relation to the objectives and budget. What were the outcomes? Indicate how any results of community feedback were implemented (whether the council changed its behaviour or strategy). (Maximum 200 words.)
  6. Provide a paragraph summarising the key aspects of your application. This summary should be suitable for publication and may be used to announce the winner. (Maximum 200 words)

Innovation in Special Events Award

  1. Summary of event: Concise event brief describing the objectives, target audience, event plan, format and delivery of the event. (Maximum 200 words.)
  2. Planning and Communication: A short description of strategy development and stakeholder involvement. Show communication methods, distribution outlets, use of innovation, differing communication tools and how they motivated their audience. (Maximum 200 words.)
  3. Budget: Summary of event funding, budget, revenue and whether you used an agency to assist with the project. (Maximum 200 words.)
  4. Sustainability and accessibility: Outline the sustainability and accessibility considerations applied to this project. (Maximum 200 words.)
  5. Evaluation and Results: Evaluation and Results: Describe evaluation methods and results. Describe evaluation methods that were utilised, and the results achieved in relation to the goals and budget. Please provide evidence. What evaluation methods and provide specific examples and the measurement of responses. (Maximum 200 words.)
  6. Provide a paragraph summarising the key aspects of your application. This summary should be suitable for publication and may be used to announce the winner. (Maximum 200 words)

Reporting to Your Community Award

  1. Overall Report Strategy: Short overview of the report strategy including objectives/targets, identification of the audience(s) and method of delivery (i.e. the medium). (Maximum 200 words.)
  2. Vision, theme and innovation: Explain the choice of visual presentation: design, layout, language and its relevance to the material/audience, as well as how your project achieved thematic unity. Give reasons why the report shows excellence in innovation. (Maximum 200 words.)
  3. Budget: Briefly outline your budget including how much it cost and whether it was a cost effective use of resources. This should include all expenses including production, printing, digital/media spend, distributions, evaluation costs and whether you used an agency to assist with the project. (Maximum 200 words.)
  4. Distribution methods: Describe your distribution methods and print run or coverage (including online). (Maximum 200 words.)
  5. Evaluation: Describe any feedback received or evaluation methods used. (Maximum 200 words.)
  6. Provide a paragraph summarising the key aspects of your application. This summary should be suitable for publication and may be used to announce the winner. (Maximum 200 words) 

Outstanding Individual Contribution Award

  1. Achievements: Description of positions held within current council and achievements. Note this is not a resume. (Maximum 200 words.)
  2. Detail of one substantive achievement: Describe one substantial/outstanding achievement above and beyond ‘business as usual’ as listed above and describe the outstanding contribution of the nominee. (Maximum 200 words.)
  3. Impact: Description of the impact this individual has had on internal and external stakeholders. (Maximum 200 words.)
  4. Innovation: Description of overall innovative contribution. (Maximum 200 words)
  5. Provide a paragraph summarising the key aspects of your application. This summary should be suitable for publication and may be used to announce the winner. (Maximum 200 words)
