Events Network

The Events Team at Local Government NSW run seminars throughout the year to address issues pertinent to council events. The meetings encourage the exchange of information, education and networking amongst local government staff involved in staging and facilitating events.  

Our aims and objectives:

  • To build a community amongst events professionals in NSW councils.
  • To support learning and development through knowledge sharing.
  • To educate and facilitate networking opportunities through regular meetings.

Membership

Membership of the LG Events Network is only available for NSW Local Government staff and LGNSW staff with email addresses ending in ‘nsw.gov.au’ or ‘lgnsw.org.au’. 

No matter your role, if you’re involved in organising council events, this network is for you.

Understanding and Managing Risk

At this Events Network Meeting, we will be hearing from Timothy Atkin, Partner from Maddocks (Leading Sydney law firm) speaking on the potential risk and consequences at both large and small events. Timothy will also give us an overview of the 2014 Vivid Coronial Inquest following the death of an Irish tourist.

 
Tara Hopton, Director from Crowd Matters will speak on the risks of overselling your events and how this can seriously affect your reputation including the repercussions of negative social media. How do you recover?
 
We will also look at REMPLAN with a presentation from Nick Byrne, Principal Consultant and a case study from Dubbo Regional Council. 
 
Finally we will hear from Juan Perez, Events and Approving Officer from Liverpool City Council who has been the driving force behind developing a global DA for external event applications.
