NSW councils are covered by the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2017 and the Local Government (State) Electricians Award.

Local Government (State) Award 2017

The Local Government (State) Award 2017 was made by the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW on 30 June 2017.

The 2017 Award took effect on the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 July 2017.

Local Government (Electricians) State Award

The Industrial Relations Commission of NSW varied part B monetary rate of the Local Government (Electricians) State Award on operative from first full pay period on or after 27 April 2017.

State Wage Case 2016

The NSW Industrial Relations Commission varied a number of NSW awards on 6 December 2016 to give effect to its decision in State Wage Case 2016 [2016] NSWIRComm 12.

The rates of pay of the following NSW awards have been increased by 2.4%:

  • Local Government Aged, Disability and Home Care (State) Award

  • Nurses’ (Private Sector) Training Wage (State) Award

  • Nursing Homes, &c., Nurses’ (State) Award.

The above increase may be offset against:

  1. Any equivalent over award payments, and/or

  2. Award wage increases other than state wages case adjustments.

The increase has retrospective operation and takes effect from the first full pay period commencing on or after 28 September 2016.
