Grants aim to make streets more vibrant

Earlier this year, Transport for NSW launched the Open Streets program under the Vibrant Streets Package.

The program is still accepting applications from councils for funding to energise and reimagine streets as places for people.

The program is a non-competitive grant program open to councils across NSW. Each council can submit a single application. Up to $150,000 in funding will be provided to successful grant recipients to support the temporary closure of streets to vehicles for placemaking activations.

The aim is to inject vibrancy into our streets and create thriving local spaces that support businesses, creative sectors, and the community through community events and activations. By temporarily closing streets to vehicles, we can give more space to people to socialise, play and connect.

Applications close on Tuesday 30 April 2024. To apply and for more information, councils can visit the Open Streets webpage.
